Chesterfield Day School
St. Albans, MO
FACILITY
The Chesterfield Day School, a Chesterfield, Missouri based private, independent elementary school constructed a new facility and campus in the exclusive planned community of St. Albans, Missouri.
CHALLENGE
The 13+/- acre site, donated to the school by the developer of the St. Albans community, was at the bottom of a steep hillside adjacent to a creek that could not be disturbed. The hillside consumed about 1/3 of the total acreage and could not be cost effectively utilized for the building site. Soil conditions at the building footprint, an old flood plain of the Missouri River, required that the existing soils be consolidated for a period of time prior to the start of construction. These issues, as well as the shape of the parcel limited the configuration and layout of the building and the site improvements.
SCOPE OF SERVICE
CCS Group provided project management services from the early phases of conceptual planning and programming through construction, move-in, occupancy, and punch list completion
OUTCOMES
Construction began in January 1999 and was completed by the end of the year. Dr. Barb Fulton, the long time head of Chesterfield Day School stated after completion
"CCS Group was absolutely terrific. I would never do another project without them. This was a dream project. It came in under budget and ahead of schedule. CCS Group has great communication skills. They anticipated challenges and overcame each one. We've done three or four smaller buildings before and managed the process ourselves. There were a few flare-ups that created some problems. This was the first time we've ever built an entire school. It was big and complex, and we knew we needed help. CCS was smooth, smart, and very knowledgeable in their orchestration of the project." |
