The Board of Education directive is to have the new high school ready for the fall of 2009. Due to the failure of the initial bond issue in April of 2008, the design and construction schedule was shortened by four months. Faced with a difficult time frame, the project was split into three packages to help expedite the work. The site grading package was bid and the contractor released to proceed on Sept 5, 2008.
Bid package #2 is for the balance of all site work and was bid in October 2008, work began in November and was completed at the building site by Christmas 2008.
The building package was released for bidding in November and awarded in early December. Work began on January 2nd with the contractor committed to meeting the deadline of August 2009, thus allowing classes to begin. The "A" Section of the building opened for classes on August 20th and construction on the "B" Section, which includes the gym and music rooms, is on schedule for completion. |
